INDIAN EMBASSY LAUNCHES ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ CD IN BAHASA 

IN NORTH SUMATERA

As part of its outreach activities for greater economic integration in North Sumatera, the Indian Embassy and it’s Consulate in Medan organized a special event on 30 September 2015 in Medan. The Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor Leste H.E. Mr. Gurjit Singh and the Governor of North Sumatera H.E. Mr. Haji Tengku Erry Nuradi jointly launced the CD on ‘Make in India’ in Bahasa version on the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of the Government of India’s new initiative. The special CD brought out by the Embassy carries information on various sectors for foreign investors. Launching the CD, Ambassador H.E. Mr. Gurjit Singh said that the launch of an Indonesian-made satellite by the Indian PSLV C-30 rocket on 28 September emphasizes the quality and conception of ‘Make in India’ and South-South cooperation between India and Indonesia. He spoke about Digital India, Skill Development, Smart Cities and Renewable Energy and said that these are the key sectors in which India and Indonesia can work together for mutual benefit. 

Acknowledging the economic, scientific, technological advancement of India, Governor H.E. Mr. Haji Tengku Erry Nuradi said that the Indonesian business community is enthused about the Make in India programme and urged the business circles to invest in India to avail of the incentives being offered under the programme.

A CD on ‘India Dalam Bisnis’ which is the Bahasa version of the book ‘India in Business’ published by the Ministry of External Affairs of India was also released at the event. The CD contains a blueprint of investment opportunities and  recent policy regulations in India. Presenting his latest book ‘Masala Bumbu’ to the Governor, the Ambassador said that the book is a committment towards enhancing India-Indonesia economic partnership. 

The event was attended by Chairmen of Sumatera Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Sumatera Employers’ Association of Indonesia (APINDO), Young Entrepreuners Association (HIPMI), senior officials of the North Sumatera provincial Government, eminent Indonesian businessmen, Friends of India and Indian Diaspora. 

Earlier in the day,  Ambassador H.E. Mr. Gurjit Singh had a detailed meeting with H.E. Mr. Parlindungan Purba, Member of the Upper House of Parliament (DPD) and Chairman of APINDO on ways of strenthening economic cooperation. Both sides agreed to mount a high powered business delegation to India and to focus on power projects, export of meat from India, transportation and renewable energy.
